Chicago Splits Two at St. Norbert
DE PERE, Wis. -- The University of Chicago volleyball team opened its 2007 season with a win and a loss on the first day of the St. Norbert College Invitational on Friday evening.
In their season debut, the Maroons dropped a four-game decision to the host Green Knights (1-0), falling 30-22, 28-30, 34-32, 30-17.
Sophomore outside hitter Diandra Bucciarelli (Del Mar, Calif./ Torrey Pines) hit a team-high 13 kills, while senior libero Dominique Marshall (Westerville, Ohio/ Columbus School for Girls) collected 16 digs.
Senior middle hitter Koryn Kendall (Napa, Calif./ Vintage) then clubbed 21 kills to go along with three blocks as the Maroons (1-1) swept Finlandia University (0-2) 32-30, 30-24, 31-29 in Friday's second match.
Chicago returns to action Saturday with matches against Marian College and Aurora University.
