Second-Half Surge Lifts Maroons Past Carthage
KENOSHA, Wis. -- Led by senior guard Nofi Mojidi (Silver Spring, Md./ Bullis School), the 16th-ranked University of Chicago women's basketball team scored a season-high 44 points in the second half en route to a 67-52 win over host Carthage College.
Chicago (6-2) shot 33% from the field in the first half and trailed 28-23 at the break. The Maroons then connected on 54% of their field goal attempts in the second stanza.
Sophomore guard Jamie Stinson's (Topeka, Kan./ Shawnee Heights) basket with 16:12 left in the game put Chicago in the lead for good, 32-30.
Mojidi, who led three Maroons in double figures with 11 points, gave Chicago a 52-41 lead with a basket at the 6:19 mark. Chicago led by at least 10 points the rest of the way.
Senior guard Lori Tanaka (Chicago, Ill./ Lane Tech) and sophomore forward Molly Hackney (East Lansing, Mich./ Lansing Catholic) each added 10 points for Chicago, while sophomore forward Anna Woods (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./ Lower Merion) matched her career high with 11 rebounds.
Carthage's Katie Jarger led all scorers with 14 points.
