Maroons Climb Back into Top 25
CHICAGO -- Sporting a 9-2 record and a four-game winning streak, the University of Chicago women's basketball team was ranked 25th in this week's USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division III Coaches Poll.
The Maroons, who have been idle since a 93-45 win over the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Jan. 3, open University Athletic Association play Saturday afternoon (Jan. 12) when they travel to St. Louis to face Washington (Mo.) University (8-3) at 1 p.m.
Chicago currently ranks second in the nation with a +16.0 rebounding margin. Sophomore Molly Hackney (East Lansing, Mich./ Lansing Catholic) leads the team with 6.3 boards per game, followed by sophomore Anna Woods (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./ Lower Merion) and senior Nicaya Rapier (Munster, Ind./ Bishop Noll) with 6.0 and 5.1, respectively.
Rapier needs four rebounds to become the sixth player in school history to collect 600 in a career.
