Maroons Continue to Climb in National Rankings
CHICAGO -- Sporting a six-game winning streak and currently tied for first place in the University Athletic Association, the University of Chicago women's basketball team was ranked among the top 25 in both NCAA Division III polls this week.
Chicago (19-5 overall, 10-3 UAA) climbed from 23rd to 21st in the USA Today/ESPN rankings and returned to the D3hoops.com poll for the first time in 11 weeks at the #25 position.
Chicago hosts 23rd-ranked (USA Today/ESPN) Washington (Mo.) University (18-6, 10-3) at the Ratner Athletics Center on Saturday, Mar. 1 in a game that will determine the UAA championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
Seeking their first NCAA postseason berth since 1994-95 and first UAA title since 1988-89, the Maroons are 11-1 (6-0 UAA) at the Ratner Center this season.
