Maroons Upset #17 Olivet

CHICAGO -- In its final home appearance of the 2007-08 campaign, the University of Chicago wrestling team rallied to defeat 17th-ranked Olivet College 21-19 Wednesday night at the Ratner Athletics Center.

Chicago (3-2) trailed 15-4 before taking four of the evening's last five bouts en route to winning its sixth consecutive home dual.

Freshman Chris Oster (Homer Glen, Ill./ Lockport) posted the Maroons' first victory with a 12-2 major decision at 149 pounds.

Sophomore 165-pounder Troy Carlson (Cary, Ill./ Cary Grove) and junior 184-pounder Justin Lucas (Medford, N.J./ Shawnee) sandwiched major decision victories (14-5, 10-2) around a 12-8 decision by junior Lance Contento (Tucson, Ariz./ Catalina Foothills) at 174.

A major decision by Olivet (5-7) at 197 gave the Comets a 19-15 lead heading into the final bout, but freshman heavyweight Ryan Hatten (Florissant, Mo./ McCleur North) pinned Olivet's Sean Misko at the 3:51 mark to give the Maroons the come-from-behind win.

The victory was the Maroons' first in three dual matches against nationally-ranked opponents in 2007-08.
