NEW YORK CITY -- Featuring three All-University Athletic Association selections, including the league's Rookie of the Year, the University of Chicago wrestling team captured second place at the 2008 UAA Championship Saturday at New York University.

NYU, currently ranked 15th in the nation, won six of 10 bouts en route to a 22-12 decision over the Maroons in the title match.

Chicago (6-5) began the day with a 35-12 win over Case Western Reserve University, which then fell to NYU 44-6 in Saturday's second contest.

Freshman heavyweight Ryan Hatten (Florissant, Mo./ McCleur North) was named the UAA Rookie of the Year after defeating NYU's James Laymen 6-3.

Junior Justin Lucas (Medford, N.J./ Shawnee) and sophomore Troy Carlson (Cary, Ill./ Cary Grove) joined Hatten on the All-UAA Team at 197 and 165 pounds, respectively.

Lucas notched a 6-2 decision over NYU's Alex Chianurishvili at 197 pounds in addition to a technical fall victory over Case's Ray Lonardo at 184. Carlson defeated Case's David Bernholt 8-0 before edging NYU's Patrick Knight 5-4.
