Maroons Defeat #23 Calvin 4-0
CHICAGO -- For the second time in four days, the University of Chicago women's soccer team defeated a nationally-ranked foe as the Maroons blanked 23rd-ranked Calvin College 4-0 Friday afternoon at Stagg Field.
Chicago (3-0) scored all four of its goals during a 28-minute stretch of the first half en route to its 19th consecutive victory at Stagg Field. The win also extended the Maroons' home unbeaten streak to 34 matches (31-0-3).
Senior defender Amanda Catalano (Whitinsville, Mass./ Northbridge) set up the Maroons' first two goals, the first by senior forward Christine Farmer (Pine City, N.Y./ Elmira Notre Dame) at 3:53 and the second off the foot of sophomore defender Kaitlin Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/ St. Ursula) at 12:45.
Freshman forward Sarah Loh (Grand Rapids, Mich./ Forest Hills Northern) notched her team-leading fourth goal of the year unassisted at the 28:56 mark before assisting on Chicago's final goal from sophomore forward Julie Bischoff (Rockford, Ill./ Boylan) at 32:00.
Farmer's goal was her second of the season. Meyer and Bischoff tallied for the first time in their respective careers.
Loh became the first Maroon since Renee Neuner in 2002 to find the net in her first three career games. Neuner tallied in her first seven outings.
Senior goalkeeper Amanda Sutter (Irvine, Calif./ University) made three saves to post her second shutout of the year. The Maroons have outscored their opponents 11-0 on the season.
