Maroons Defeat Case 3-0
CHICAGO -- Sophomore forward Brooke Bontz (Fort Collins, Colo./ Poudre) scored a pair of goals to lead the University of Chicago women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over University Athletic Association rival Case Western Reserve University Friday at Stagg Field.
Chicago (9-4-3 overall, 2-1-2 UAA) got on the board 15:29 into the contest when senior defender Amanda Catalano (Whitinsville, Mass./ Northbridge) scored her second goal of the year unassisted.
Bontz then scored at the 19:10 mark off assists from Catalano and junior midfielder Olivia Ndyabagye (Albuquerque, N.M./ Sandia) to give the Maroons a 2-0 halftime advantage.
Bontz capped the scoring with her second goal of the day and fifth of the year when she converted a cross from sophomore midfielder Claire Gill (Los Altos Hills, Calif./ King's Academy) in the 57th minute.
Senior goalkeeper Amanda Sutter (Irvine, Calif./ University) needed to make just one save to notch her seventh shutout of the season.
Chicago, which outshot the Spartans (6-10, 0-5) by a 14-4 margin, won for the third time in its last four games.
