Maroons Rout NYU 4-0
NEW YORK -- The University of Chicago women's soccer team scored three times in the game's first five minutes en route to a 4-0 win over New York University in University Athletic Association action Sunday afternoon.
Chicago (7-3-3 overall, 1-1-2 UAA) opened the scoring 1:52 into the match when sophomore midfielder Claire Gill (Los Altos Hills, Calif./ King's Academy) collected her own rebound and fired it into the net for her third goal of the year and second in as many games.
Junior midfielder Olivia Ndyabagye (Albuquerque, N.M./ Sandia) and senior midfielder Eva DeLaurentiis (Frankfort, Ill./ Lincoln-Way East) then scored 1:14 apart to give the Maroons a 3-0 lead just 4:46 into the game.
Ndyabagye converted a cross from sophomore forward Brooke Bontz (Fort Collins, Colo./ Poudre) for her third goal of the season at 3:32 before DeLaurentiis found the back of the net for the first time this year on a 30-yard shot.
The Maroons closed out the scoring on senior defender Amanda Catalano's (Whitinsville, Mass./ Northbridge) first goal of the season in the 36th minute. Catalano's goal marked her fourth against NYU in the past two campaigns.
Senior goalkeeper Amanda Sutter (Irvine, Calif./ University) stopped four saves to post her sixth shutout of the year.
Chicago finished regular season road competition with a 4-2-2 mark.
