Maroons Win 20th Straight at Home

CHICAGO -- Senior forward Christine Farmer (Pine City, N.Y./ Elmira Notre Dame) scored the winning goal early in the second half as the University of Chicago women's soccer team defeated St. Olaf College 2-1 Saturday at Stagg Field.

The victory extended the Maroons' home field winning streak to 20 games and their Stagg Field unbeaten streak to 35 matches (32-0-3).

Farmer's goal at the 55:05 mark, off an assist from junior midfielder Siggy Nachtergaele (Davis, Calif./ Davis), put Chicago (4-0) on top 2-0.

Freshman midfielder Emily Benoit (Kalamazoo, Mich./ Hackett) scored the game's first goal -- and the first of her career -- unassisted in the 42nd minute.

St. Olaf (0-4) got on the board at the 77:30 mark when Abigail Ho tallied on a breakaway on the Oles' first shot of the match. Chicago held a 29-2 shots advantage.

Ho's goal was the first yielded by the Maroons in 344 minutes this season.

The Maroons' 4-0 start matches its best since the 2004 campaign.
