Maroons Rout Wis.-LaCrosse 4-0
CHICAGO -- Freshman midfielder Katie Manuelli (Hightstown, N.J./ Peddie School) scored a goal and collected an assist 40 seconds apart as the University of Chicago women's soccer team defeated the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse 4-0 in non-conference play Wednesday at Stagg Field.
With Chicago (8-3-3) leading 1-0, Manuelli set up sophomore midfielder Claire Gill (Los Altos Hills, Calif./ King's Academy) for her fourth goal in as many games at the 62:52 mark.
Manuelli then found the back of the net from 25 yards away for her first career goal at 63:32 to put the Maroons on top 3-0.
Junior midfielder Olivia Ndyabagye (Albuquerque, N.M./ Sandia) scored the only goal of the first half 10:58 into the contest. After taking a feed from junior defender Anne Scherer (Cincinnati, Ohio/ St. Ursula), Ndyabagye raced up the right side and beat Eagles' netminder Lindsay Greden for her fourth goal of the year.
The Maroons closed out the scoring in the 70th minute on sophomore forward Melissa Plesac's (Hobart, Ind./ Hobart) first goal of the season. Plesac scored from 15 yards away off an assist from senior midfielder Eva DeLaurentiis (Frankfort, Ill./ Lincoln-Way East).
Chicago, which extended its unbeaten streak to three games (2-0-1), outshot Wisconsin-LaCrosse (8-5-1) 11-1 in the first half and 18-4 for the match.
