Maroons' Home Win Streak Ends at 20

CHICAGO -- Kaylee Weise and Amanda Prawat scored first half goals as the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point defeated the University of Chicago women's soccer team 2-1 in non-conference play Tuesday at Stagg Field.

The loss ended Chicago's home field winning streak at 20 games and snapped the Maroons' 35-game home unbeaten streak.

Weise took a long pass from Katie Waterman and directed a header past senior netminder Amanda Sutter (Irvine, Calif./ University) 8:13 into the contest.

Weise set up the Pointers' (6-2-1) next goal as Prawat beat junior goalkeeper Polly Cline (Traverse City, Mich./ Central) on a breakaway at the 35:55 mark.

Chicago (5-2-1) got on the board at 78:47 when sophomore forward Brooke Bontz (Fort Collins, Colo./ Poudre) collected a rebound off the post and fired the ball into the net for her third goal of the year.

Cline kept the Maroons in the match when she stopped a Pointer breakaway in the final 10 minutes.

Chicago outshot the Pointers 15-5, including a 9-1 margin in the second half, and attempted eight corner kicks.
