Chicago Sweeps Two at IIT

CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago women's swimming and diving team swept a pair of dual meets Friday night at the Illinois Institute of Technology with a 159-35 win over the host Scarlet Hawks and a 130-96 decision over St. Mary's (Ind.) College.

Freshman Ellie Elgamal (San Diego, Calif./ Bishop’s School) posted an NCAA Division III provisional-qualifying mark and school record with a first-place time of 58.34 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly.

Elgamal, who also took top honors in the 200-yard individual medley (2:14.73) was one of three Maroons to win multiple events.

Freshman Sarah Wynn (Wheaton, Ill./ Wheaton-Warrenville South) led the way in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle (2:03.21, 5:23.04), while fellow first-year Charlotte Richman (Hoboken, N.J./ High Tech) won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle (26.34 seconds, 57.08 seconds).
