Chicago Defeats Kalamazoo
CHICAGO -- Freshman Ellie Elgamal (San Diego, Calif./ Bishop's School) set school and pool records and won three events as the University of Chicago women's swimming & diving team defeated Kalamazoo College 175-108 in dual meet competition Saturday at the Myers-McLoraine Pool.
Elgamal broke her own school and pool marks with a first-place time of 57.84 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly. She also led the way in the 200-yard butterfly (2:14.15) and 200-yard freestyle (2:01.98).
Freshman Charlotte Richman (Hoboken, N.J./ High Tech) also won multiple events, taking top honors in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.77) and 100-yard freestyle (57.05).
In all, the Maroons won 13 of the 16 events.
