Maroons Advance to UAA Semifinals

ST. LOUIS -- The 30th-ranked University of Chicago women's tennis team defeated Brandeis University 6-3 in the opening round of the 2008 University Athletic Association Championship Friday at Washington (Mo.) University.

With the victory, Chicago (10-7) advances to the semifinals tomorrow against fourth-ranked Emory University (12-9). The Eagles cruised past Case Western Reserve University 9-0 Friday morning.

Sophomore Marissa Lin (Irvine, Calif./ Tustin), junior Vindya Dayananda (Kathmandu, Nepal/ Lincoln School), freshman Chrissy Hu (Palo Alto, Calif./ Palo Alto), sophomore Justine Kentla (Palatine, Ill./ Palatine), and junior Anuja Parikh (Mumbai, India/ RIMS) won at first through fifth singles, respectively.

Hu and Kentla paired up to win at second doubles.

Brandeis (10-6) will face Case in Saturday's consolation round.
