Maroons Place Fourth at UAA Championship
ST. LOUIS -- Fourteenth-ranked Washington (Mo.) University defeated the 30th-ranked University of Chicago women's tennis team 6-3 in the third place match at the 2008 University Athletic Association Championship Sunday morning.
Chicago (10-9) won two of three doubles matches, but dropped five of six singles contests.
Junior Vindya Dayananda (Kathmandu, Nepal/ Lincoln School) and sophomore Marissa Lin (Irvine, Calif./ Tustin) won 8-4 at first doubles, while sophomore Justine Kentla (Palatine, Ill./ Palatine) and freshman Chrissy Hu (Palo Alto, Calif./ Palo Alto) posted an 8-5 victory at second doubles.
Lin notched the Maroons' lone singles victory with a 6-4, 6-4 decision at the first position.
Washington improved its record to 15-5.
