Maroons Defeat Washington 5-4

ST. LOUIS -- In a matchup of nationally-ranked women's tennis teams, the 19th-ranked University of Chicago edged #21 Washington (Mo.) University 5-4 Saturday night.

Sophomore Marissa Lin (Irvine, Calif./ Tustin) and junior Vindya Dayananda (Kathmandu, Nepal/ Lincoln School) won at first and second singles, respectively, and combined for an 8-2 victory at first doubles.

Freshman Chrissy Hu (Palo Alto, Calif./ Palo Alto) also won in singles (third) and doubles (second) competition.

Chicago, which entered the match ranked fifth in the Central Region, improved to 5-3 on the season.

Washington, the Central Region's sixth-ranked team, dropped to 1-1.
