Maroons Fall to Wheaton

CHICAGO -- In a matchup of nationally-ranked women's tennis teams, 22nd-ranked Wheaton (Ill.) College edged #30 University of Chicago 5-4 Tuesday at the Stagg Field Courts.

At first singles, junior Vindya Dayananda (Kathmandu, Nepal/ Lincoln School) defeated Wheaton's Jordan Hook -- the fourth-ranked player in the NCAA Division III -- in three sets.

Ranked ninth in the Central Region, the Maroons slipped to 9-7 on the season. Wheaton, the region's sixth-ranked team, improved to 19-5.
