Chicago Wins Outdoor Debut
CHICAGO -- Four Maroons won their respective events as the University of Chicago women's outdoor track & field team led the way Saturday at the nine-team Ted Haydon Invitational at the Haydon Track at Stagg Field.
Sophomore Claire Ray (Park Ridge, Ill./ St. Ignatius) won the discus (41.30 m), finished second in the shot put (11.63 m), and placed fourth in the hammer throw (38.40 m).
Freshman Kristin Constantine (Naperville, Ill./ Waubonsie Valley) took top honors in the shot put (11.66 m) and finished third in the discus (33.51 m).
Freshman Liz Lawton (North Easton, Mass./ Thayer Academy) led the field in the 1,500-meter run (4:57.24) and claimed fourth place in the 800 (2:32.05).
Junior Rachel Venezia Canton, Mass. (Canton) won the steeplechase with a time of 11:17.74.
Chicago posted 141.5 points in the team standings. Carthage was next with 130.5.
