Alex Clifford Named to All-Region Team
CHICAGO -- University of Chicago sophomore forward Alex Clifford (Andover, Mass./ Phillips Academy) was named to the 2008 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas All-North Central Region Men's Soccer Team, the NSCAA announced today.
A Third Team selection, Clifford became Chicago's first repeat all-region honoree since Barret Van Sicklen in 2002. Clifford garnered Second Team recognition a year ago.
Clifford, who earned All-University Athletic Association Second Team honors last month, was the Maroons' leading scorer overall (3 goals, 3 assists) and in UAA play (2-2-6) this past season. He scored the Maroons' lone goal in a 1-1 tie against UAA rival Brandeis University.
Chicago posted a 5-10-3 overall record and finished sixth in the UAA with a 1-5-1 record this fall.
