CHICAGO -- University of Chicago sophomore pitcher Dan McConologue (Lockport, Ill./ Lockport) and freshman second baseman Julia Schneider (Edgewater, N.J./ Dwight-Englewood) have been selected as the University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week for baseball and softball, respectively, the conference announced today.

McConologue finished 2-0 with a 3.27 ERA in one start and one relief outing. In a complete-game 8-3 victory over Case Western Reserve University, he scattered seven hits, allowed three earned runs, and fanned eight without allowing a walk. In a 3-1 win over North Park University, McConologue pitched two innings out of the bullpen to earn the victory.

Schneider batted .750 (9-for-12) with a pair of home runs, six RBIs, and three runs as the Maroons won three of four games. In a doubleheader split against Lake Forest College, she was 5-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored, then in a doubleheader sweep over Hope College she went 4-for-7 with two RBIs and one run.

Both players received their first career UAA Athlete of the Week citation.
