Maroons Finish 6th at Augustana

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The University of Chicago men's cross country team placed sixth out of 26 teams Friday at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational, hosted by Augustana (Ill.) College.

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, ranked 13th in the most recent NCAA Division III poll, won the event with 25 points, followed by 10th-ranked Augustana (70) and NAIA member Olivet Nazarene University (125). Chicago totaled 164 points in the final team standings.

Junior Arthur Baptist (Arlington Heights, Ill./ Prospect) and sophomore Moe Bahrani (Vernon Hills, Ill./ Vernon Hills) paced the Maroons as they crossed the line in 21st and 23rd place with respective eight-kilometer times of 26:09 and 26:10. Senior Adam Kaye (Brookline, Mass./ Brookline) captured 32nd place with a time of 26:26.

Truman State University's Joey Walls led the 373-runner field with a winning time of 25:32.

Chicago returns to action Saturday, Oct. 10 at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational.
