Maroons Finish 12th at Illinois Intercollegiate Invite
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The University of Chicago men's cross country team captured 12th place at the 31-team Illinois Intercollegiate Championships, hosted by Illinois State University, Friday evening.
Friday's meet featured teams from all NCAA Divisions. North Central College won the meet with 56 points, followed by the University of Illinois (72) and Rend Lake College (83). Chicago placed fourth among Division III teams with 319 points in the final team standings.
Sophomore Mahmoud Bahrani (Vernon Hills, Ill./ Vernon Hills) and senior Adam Kaye (Brookline, Mass./ Brookline) paced the Maroons, finishing 44th and 65th, respectively, with times of 25:56 and 26:18 on the eight-kilometer course.
Rend Lake's Stephen Sambu led the 334-runner field with a time of 23:48.
Chicago returns to action next Friday at Augustana (Ill.) College's Brissman-Lundeen Invitational.
