Maroons Place 10th at UW-Oshkosh
OSHKOSH, Wis. -- The University of Chicago men's cross country team finished in 10th place at the 35-team University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Chicago finished with 272 points in the team standings. Top-ranked North Central College won the event with 22 points, followed by the sixth-ranked University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (97), and #9 Augustana (Ill.) College (151).
Sophomore Mahmoud Bahrani (Vernon Hills, Ill./ Vernon Hills) was the Maroons' top finisher on the eight-kilometer course as he placed 34th among 551 runners with a time of 25:10.
Juniors Jim Mumford (Chicago, Ill./ St. Ignatius) and Nick Nunez (Algonquin, Ill./ Dundee-Crown) finished 48th and 64th with respective times of 25:22 and 25:32.
Bethel University's Dan Greeno led the field with a time of 24:15.
Chicago will compete at the 2009 University Athletic Association Championship in two weeks, Oct. 31, at Case Western Reserve University.
