Maroons Open Season at Valpo Invite

VALPARAISO, Ind. -- The University of Chicago men's cross country team finished second among four teams at the season-opening Valparaiso University Crusader Open Friday afternoon.

The only non-Division I team competing in the meet, the Maroons finished with 57 points. The University of Notre Dame won the event with 15 points, while Valparaiso (75) and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (113) rounded out the field.

Senior Adam Kaye (Brookline, Mass./ Brookline), junior Nick Nunez (Algonquin, Ill./ Dundee-Crown), and sophomore Mahmoud Bahrani (Vernon Hills, Ill./ Vernon Hills) finished 12th, 13th, and 14th, respectively, among the 58-runner field with times of 20:24, 20:25, and 20:25 on the six-kilometer course.

The Maroons return to action Friday, Sept. 18 at the Illinois Intercollegiate Invitational in Bloomington.
