Chicago Defeats Anderson

CHICAGO -- Senior forward Edgar Friloux (Madison, Wis./ West) scored a pair of goals and junior forward Alex Clifford (Andover, Mass./ Andover) added a goal and an assist as the University of Chicago men's soccer team defeated Anderson University 3-0 Wednesday night at Stagg Field.

The victory extended Chicago's (10-2-2) winning streak to four games -- all by shutout.

Friloux gave the Maroons the early lead when he took a pass from Clifford and slid a shot inside the near post from 12 yards away in the 16th minute.

Friloux made it 2-0 in the 31st minute when he stole the ball on the left side and fired a shot inside the far post for his second goal of the game and fourth of the year. His multiple-goal performance was the third of his career.

Clifford scored the Maroons' final goal, his fifth of the year, on a shot into the upper right corner of the net in the 60th minute.

Sophomore netminder Chris Giusto (Davie, Fla./ Heritage) collected seven saves -- six in the second half -- to notch his eighth shutout of the season.

Adam Harris made 13 saves for Anderson (7-9-1).

Chicago, which remains undefeated at Stagg Field (6-0-1), wraps up its five-game homestand Sunday, Oct. 25 when it meets the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at 2 p.m.
