Maroons Defeat Wabash

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. -- Junior midfielder Ryan Fitzgerald's (Beaverton, Ore./ Westview) goal late in the first half gave the University of Chicago men's soccer team a 1-0 win over Wabash College Saturday afternoon.

Fitzgerald tallied his first goal of the season off an assist from junior midfielder Kenzo Manners (Hamamatsu City, Japan/ Hamamatsu-Kita) at the 40:26 mark for the only scoring of the contest.

Chicago (3-1) outshot the Little Giants (2-3) 4-3 in each half.

Sophomore goalkeeper Chris Giusto (Davie, Fla./ Heritage) and his Wabash counterpart Pat West each made one save. Giusto notched his second straight shutout.

Chicago travels to Decatur, Ill., to face Millikin University Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 5 p.m.
