Will Zhang Reaches ITA Semis

ST. LOUIS -- University of Chicago junior Will Zhang (Wynnewood, Pa./ Lower Merion) advanced to the semifinals of the singles competition at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Regional Men's Tennis Championship Friday through Monday at Washington (Mo.) University.

Zhang won his first five matches before falling to Kenyon College's Thomas Piskacek 7-5, 6-1 in the semifinal round. Piskacek then lost to Washington's John Watts 6-2, 6-1 in the title match.

In all, nine Maroons participated in the singles competition and combined to post a 17-10 record. Four Chicago doubles tandems notched a 6-4 combined mark.

Chicago plays its first dual match of the season Saturday, Oct. 10 at Olivet Nazarene University.
