Bontz, Oium Earn UAA Weekly Accolades

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago senior women's soccer player Brooke Bontz (Fort Collins, Colo./ Poudre) and junior football player Marshall Oium (Temecula, Calif./ Great Oak) have been selected as the University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week for women's soccer (offense) and football (offense), respectively, the conference announced today.

Bontz scored three goals, including both game-winners, as the 15th-ranked Maroons (12-2-1) won a pair of non-conference games. She tallied twice in the game's first 10 minutes in a 7-0 win over Anderson University on Oct. 21, then scored the Maroons' first goal in the 12th minute in a 3-0 decision over the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse three days later.

Oium set Chicago modern era records for passing yards (472) and touchdowns (5) in the Maroons' 38-7 win over Denison University this past Saturday. He threw touchdown passes of 9, 16, 25, 43, and 73 yards to lead Chicago to its third straight win and prevented a touchdown near the end of the first half when he chased down a Denison defender inside the Chicago red zone after a 54-yard interception return. The Maroons then stopped the Big Red to preserve a 17-0 halftime lead.

Bontz and Oium both received their first UAA weekly citation of the season and the second of their career.
