Higgins, Brizzolara Named UAA Athletes of the Week

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago sophomore Kendra Higgins (Vero Beach, Fla./ Vero Beach) and freshman Dee Brizzolara (Aurora, Ohio/ Aurora) have been selected as the University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week for women's tennis and football (special teams), respectively, the conference announced today.

Higgins won the singles title and teamed up with junior Chrissy Hu (Palo Alto, Calif./ Palo Alto) to claim the doubles crown at the 2009 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Regional. Higgins, who earned her fourth career UAA Athlete of the Week award, won five doubles matches alongside Hu and won six singles contests on the weekend.

Brizzolara amassed 91 yards on three kickoff returns and 21 yards on a pair of punt runbacks in the Maroons' 38-17 win over Oberlin College. Two of his kick returns gave the Maroons the ball inside Oberlin territory; both ensuing drives resulted in touchdowns. Brizzolara collected his second UAA weekly citation of the season.
