CHICAGO -- Four University of Chicago student-athletes have been selected as the University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week in their respective sports, the conference announced today. Sophomore Francis Adarkwa (Wheaton, Ill./ Wheaton-Warrenville South) was selected in football (offense), sophomore midfielder Stanton Coville (Powell, Ohio/ Olentangy Liberty) and sophomore defender Rashad Masri (Louisville, Ky./ Collegiate) were chosen in men's soccer (offense, defense), and sophomore Kendra Higgins (Vero Beach, Fla./ Vero Beach) represented women's tennis.

Adarkwa rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown as the Maroons defeated Macalester College 28-24 this past Saturday. He carried the ball 29 times without being thrown for a loss and caught five passes for 27 yards.

Coville scored with :06 left in the first overtime period to give the Maroons a 1-0 win over the sixth-ranked University of Rochester this past Friday, then tallied the game-winner off a penalty kick as Chicago defeated Case Western Reserve University 3-0 two days later.

Masri led the Maroons defensively as they allowed only 10 shots on net in shutout victories over Rochester and Case.

Higgins finished as the singles runner-up at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Small College Championship. Following the event, she received the James O'Hara Sargent Sportsmanship Award which recognizes players who display outstanding sportsmanship and exemplify the spirit of college tennis during the course of the event.

Higgins earned her second UAA Athlete of the Week award this year and the fifth of her career. Adarkwa was cited for the first time this fall and the third time during his career. Coville and Masri were both first-time honorees.
