Maroons Defeat Aurora in 2009 Debut

AURORA, Ill. -- Sophomore outside hitters Colleen Belak (Louisville, Ky./ Presentation Academy) and Isis Smalls (Humble, Texas/ Atascocita) combined to hit 22 of the Maroons' 38 kills as the University of Chicago volleyball team defeated Aurora University 25-18, 25-19, 25-14 in the season opener for both teams Tuesday evening.

Belak led the Maroons with 13 kills and a .455 hitting percentage, while Smalls collected nine kills on the night.

Freshman libero Samantha Brown (Louisville, Ky./ Mercy Academy) was credited with 24 digs.

Chicago returns to action Friday and Saturday, Sept. 4-5 with four matches at the Elmhurst College Invitational.
