Chicago Wins Home Debut

CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago volleyball team swept Lake Forest College 25-17, 25-14, 25-20 in its home opener Wednesday night at the Ratner Athletics Center.

Sophomore libero Liane Rousseau (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Mount Notre Dame) served five aces in the match, including three down the stretch in the third and final set.

Sophomore outside hitter Colleen Belak (Louisville, Ky./ Presentation Academy) led the Maroons (7-5) with seven kills to go along with nine digs.

Junior outside hitter Elizabeth Kossnar (Park Ridge, Ill./ Maine South) and freshman middle blocker Caroline Brander (River Forest, Ill./ Trinity) each collected five kills and combined to hit at a .364 clip.

Chicago snapped a two-match losing streak, while Lake Forest (1-10) dropped its fourth straight.

Chicago returns to the road Saturday, Sept. 19 when it takes on Monmouth College and Concordia University Chicago at Wheaton (Ill.) College.
