Maroons Fall to #3 Emory

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The University of Chicago volleyball team fell in three sets to third-ranked Emory University on the first day of the University Athletic Association Round Robin Saturday at the University of Rochester.

Emory (16-2 overall, 1-0 UAA) defeated the Maroons (12-8, 0-1) 25-13, 25-12, 25-21.

Sophomore outside hitter Isis Smalls (Humble, Texas/ Atascocita) hit nine kills for the Maroons, while freshman middle blocker Katie Trela (Glencoe, Ill./ Regina Dominican) collected five blocks.

Chicago takes on New York University and Carnegie Mellon University Sunday afternoon.
