Maroons Rally to Defeat Wheaton

WHEATON, Ill. -- Freshman middle blocker Katie Trela (Glencoe, Ill./ Regina Dominican) collected 14 kills and six blocks as the University of Chicago volleyball team rallied from a two-set deficit to defeat host Wheaton (Ill.) College 20-25, 17-25, 25-21, 25-17, 15-9 Wednesday night.

En route to its 10th win in its last 11 contests, Chicago (23-10) overcame a two-set deficit for the first time since the 2004 campaign.

Sophomore outside hitter Isis Smalls (Humble, Texas/ Atascocita) hit 12 kills, while freshman libero Samantha Brown (Louisville, Ky./ Mercy Academy) finished with 28 digs.

Chicago returns to action with four matches at the Illinois Wesleyan University Invitational Friday and Saturday (Oct. 30-31).
