Maroons Finish 4th at Illinois Intercollegiates

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Led by junior Liz Lawton (North Easton, Mass./ Thayer Academy) and sophomore Rachel Ohman (Solana Beach, Calif./ Torrey Pines), the 23rd-ranked University of Chicago women's cross country team placed fourth among 31 teams from all NCAA Divisions Friday night at the Illinois Intercollegiate Championships hosted by Illinois State University.

Chicago led all Division III teams with 167 points in the final team standings. Illinois State (25), Loyola University Chicago (77), and the University of Illinois (120) captured the top three spots. The Maroons outran four other Division I squads.

Lawton crossed the tape first among Division III competitors and fifth out of 232 total runners with a time of 18:10. Ohman was next among Division III runners and 18th overall with a time of 18:37.

Kristin Hackert of the University of Illinois-Chicago led the field, clocking a time of 17:37.

Chicago returns to action next Friday at Augustana (Ill.) College's Brissman-Lundeen Invitational.
