Chicago Finishes 8th at UW-Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wis. -- The 28th-ranked University of Chicago women's cross country team placed eighth among 34 teams at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Chicago finished with 211 points in the final team standings. Top-ranked Calvin College won the meet with 80 points, followed by 10th-ranked Washington (Mo.) University (93), and NCAA Division II University of Minnesota-Duluth (98).

Sophomore Rachel Ohman (Solana Beach, Calif./ Torrey Pines) led the Maroons and finished 11th out of 466 runners with a time of 21:55 on the six-kilometer course.

Juniors Erin Cary (Latrobe, Pa./ Greater Latrobe) and Molly Peverada (Hampden, Maine/ Hampden) finished 55th (22:48) and 56th (22:48), respectively.

Wisconsin-Oshkosh's Ayla Mitchell clocked an overall winning time of 20:28.

Chicago will compete at the 2009 University Athletic Association Championship in two weeks, Oct. 31, at Case Western Reserve University.
