Chicago Defeats NYU

NEW YORK -- Junior midfielder Emily Benoit (Kalamazoo, Mich./ Hackett) and junior forward Sarah Loh (Grand Rapids, Mich./ Forest Hills Northern) scored 12 minutes apart in the first half as the 16th-ranked University of Chicago women's soccer team defeated host New York University 2-1 in University Athletic Association women's soccer play Friday afternoon.

Benoit scored her second goal of the year on a five-yard shot into the top right corner at the 9:55 mark before Loh notched her 10th of the season by beating NYU goalkeeper Alex Walter on a one-on-one in front of the goal at 21:14. Senior forward Brooke Bontz (Fort Collins, Colo./ Poudre) assisted on both goals.

NYU (9-6-1 overall, 0-4-1 UAA) got on the board when Emily Jenkinson scored unassisted in the 59th minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Emma Gormley (Carmel, Ind./ Carmel) made one save for the Maroons (13-2-1, 3-1-1) while Walters collected four.

Chicago returns to action Sunday, Nov. 1, when it makes its final regular season road appearance at Brandeis University in Boston. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
