Chicago Edges Wheaton in Season Opener

WHEATON, Ill. -- The University of Chicago women's swimming & diving team opened its 2009-10 campaign with a 105-100 victory Saturday at Wheaton (Ill.) College.

Sophomore Tara Levens (Palo Alto, Calif./ Gunn) and freshman Tatum Stewart (Champaign, Ill./ Central) each won an individual event and participated on a pair of winning relays.

Levens won the 200-yard backstroke (2:14.41), while Stewart took top honors in the 200-yard butterfly (2:14.21). Both swimmers helped lead the Maroons to victories in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:43.70) and the 400-yard medley relay (4:05.10).

Chicago returns to action Friday, Oct. 30 at the Illinois Institute of Technology at 6 p.m.
