The Department of Athletics & Recreation provides a wide variety of non-credit fitness classes through the FitChicago class program. These drop-in group exercise classes are offered free-of-charge to all UChicago students, and for a small fee to other members of the athletic facilities. Typically, 10-13 different activities are provided each academic quarter in areas like Cardio Kickboxing, Yoga, Pilates, Boot Camp, Water Aerobics, and Zumba.
The University of Chicago's recreational facilities are open and available for both students and the at-large campus community alike. An active membership is required in order to access the buildings and fields
The Department collaborates with the Office of Health Promotions and Wellness to provide several fitness initiatives each academic year. Examples include Body Positive Exercise Classes, Yoga and Creative Writing Workshops, Stress Management Workshops, Nutrition for Everybody Workshops, Creating a Sustainable Exercise Program Workshops, and Recharge at Ratner Day.
