AUBURNDALE, Fla. – An offensive explosion at the start of Saturday's game catapulted the University of Chicago baseball team to a 10-2 victory against St. Olaf College on Saturday.

The Maroons moved above .500 to 3-2 on the season. The Oles dropped to 3-3.

Sophomore catcher Ian Bohn opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a RBI single. But the bigger fireworks occurred with four runs in the second frame and five runs in the third frame.

Run-scoring singles by sophomore shortstop Justin Lo and senior third baseman Tim Sonnefeldt got things rolling early in the second inning and sophomore outfielder Connor Hickey singled in two more runs to make it 5-0. In the third, sophomore designated hitter Brady Sarkon smacked a three-run homer to chase the starting pitcher. Sophomore second baseman Max Brzostowski singled in one run and Hickey's RBI groundout pushed the lead to 10-0.

UChicago ended up with 13 hits and one error defensively. Sarkon (three RBI) and Bohn (one RBI) each went 3-for-5 at the plate. Junior outfielder Maximiliano Larsen hit 2-for-4.

Sophomore pitcher Brenton Villasenor (2-0) turned in another quality start on the mound. Villasenor struck out seven batters in six innings while only allowing one run, six hits and two walks.
