CHICAGO – University of Chicago's Connor Hickey was selected Second Team All-Central Region by D3baseball.com on Tuesday.
After capturing First Team All-University Athletic Association (UAA) honors earlier in the month, Hickey pulled in his first career All-Region accolade. The sophomore centerfielder was a catalyst for the UChicago offense that scored 7.6 runs per game and hit for a .334 team batting average.
As the leadoff hitter, Hickey hit .387 with two home runs and 34 RBI. His extra-base hits included 11 doubles and three triples. The sophomore's .456 on-base percentage allowed him to finish among the nation's leaders with 53 runs scored (1.43 per game). He was an active threat on the base paths with 18 steals in 20 attempts.
Hickey ended the year with 17 multi-hit games and 10 multi-RBI games. He put together a 20-game hitting streak during course of the season.
