UChicago men's track and field finishes fifth at Chicagoland Championships

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The University of Chicago men's track and field ended up taking fifth place out of 19 teams at the Chicagoland Indoor Championships on Saturday at North Central College.

The host Cardinals won the team title with 131 points. The Maroons tied for fifth with 42 points.

Overall, UChicago placed in the top five of an event seven times and was in the top three a total of four times. Junior Nathan Downey led the way with a runner-up finish in the pole vault. His top height cleared was 4.90 meters.

A trio of third-place finishes earned significant points for the Maroons. Sophomore Owen Melia ran the one mile in 4:21.75. Junior Patrick LeFevre crossed the line in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.36. The distance medley relay of senior Nick Nielsen, sophomore Markus Diehl, freshman Joe Previdi and senior Corey Okinaka posted a time of 10:43.48.
