CHICAGO – University of Chicago women's basketball player Miranda Burt earned selection to the DIII News All-Freshman Team on Monday. Burt was one of 10 newcomers on the list, which was part of DIII News' postseason awards release.
The guard ranked third on the team in scoring at 9.1 points per game while shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 38 percent from three-point range. Her 38 three-pointers and .841 free-throw percentage led the Maroons. Burt finished second on the team with 47 steals (1.7 per game) and 17 blocks. She helped lead a defense that turned opponents over 22.2 times per game.
In her debut season, Burt started all 27 games and scored at least 14 points on seven occasions. Her season-high 23 points came in an NCAA tournament win against No. 8-ranked Wartburg College.
