WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The University of Chicago wrestling team finished 16th at the 84th-annual Wilkes Open on Thursday.
With Wilkes University serving as the host, Lehigh topped the 43-team field with 101.5 points. UChicago totaled 22 points.
Four different Maroons finished the day with multiple wins. At 141 pounds, freshman Grant Morrison went 2-2, which included a major decision and a pin in the consolation rounds. Freshman Kahlan Lee-Lermer was also 2-2 at 149 pounds with one pin. Senior Michael Sepke totaled a 2-2 record at 165 pounds.
Junior Nick Ferraro put up the best results of the day for the Maroons, going 3-2 at 174 pounds. He won his first-round match 10-7 and reached the consolation semifinals with a pair of first-period pins.
