Calamari and McKinney pull in All-American honors

CHICAGO – University of Chicago women's soccer players Mia Calamari and Jenna McKinney added to their awards haul by gaining 2016 All-American status from on Tuesday.

The Maroon duo was previously picked as All-Americans by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and HERO Sports. UChicago finished the 2016 season by tying the school record for wins with an 18-4-1 ledger, while also making its fourth appearance in the NCAA Final Four.

Calamari was picked to the First Team and also received Midfielder of the Year accolades. The junior midfielder scored a career-high eight goals and dished out a team-best 12 assists. She is UChicago's leader in career assists with 40.

McKinney was also a First Team pick as a midfielder. The sophomore paced the team in scoring with 14 goals and also contributed eight assists. Her 36 points rank fourth in the school's record books for a single season.

The two midfielders led a Maroon offense that averaged 2.7 goals per game. The 2016 UChicago squad posted the second-most goals (63) and assists (53) in program history.
