CHICAGO – After competing at the Rio Olympics last summer, University of Chicago women's swimmer Naomy Grand'Pierre will take on world-class competitors again next weekend at the 17th FINA World Championships.
The FINA World Championships are taking place in Budapest, Hungary from July 14-30. As Haiti's representative, Grand'Pierre will take part in two races on Saturday, July 29 – the 50-meter freestyle and the 50-meter breaststroke.
A rising junior on the UChicago swimming and diving team, Grand'Pierre made history at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She became the first women's swimmer to ever represent Haiti at the Olympics. In the 50-meter freestyle prelims, she took second place in her heat with a mark of 27.46 seconds.
