CHICAGO – Four members of the University of Chicago tennis teams were named to the University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Tournament Teams on Thursday.
The inaugural All-Tournament Teams reflected the top performances from last weekend's UAA Championship (April 20-23). All-Tournament is comprised of six singles positions, three doubles positions and Most Valuable Player.
UChicago's women were represented by three players after the Maroons finished in second place as a team at UAAs. Marjorie Antohi snagged the second singles position after going 3-0 on the weekend. The freshman captured a dramatic three-set win (7-5, 6-7, 6-4) over Washington University-St. Louis to send UChicago to the finals.
Freshman Alyssa Rudin and senior Tiffany Chen were picked at second doubles. The duo posted dominant results with blowout wins of 8-1, 8-2 and 8-4. Rudin also earned recognition in the sixth singles spot. The freshman made quick work of her first two opponents in straight sets, then rallied back from a one-set deficit to win in three against Emory University.
Peter Leung earned an All-Tournament spot at fifth singles on the men's side. The junior took out all three of his opponents in straight sets. He only surrendered four games versus Carnegie Mellon University and five games against New York University. UChicago placed third as a team after defeating Carnegie Mellon 6-3 on the final day.
