CHICAGO – The University of Chicago women's tennis team will host the opening regional rounds of the NCAA Division III Championship this Friday-Sunday, May 12-14. The Stagg Courts will serve as the host site on campus.

#9 UChicago Maroons

  • Notes: UChicago is making its ninth-straight postseason appearance since 2009. They've reached the quarterfinals six times, the semifinals four times and the finals once in program history. Last year's team advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals … The Maroons have not lost to a Division III opponent ranked outside of the top 25 since March 2007 … Junior Ariana Iranpour was selected to the NCAA singles tournament for the third-straight year. She owns 15-8 singles record this year playing at the top of the lineup … Freshman Marjorie Antohi has won nine-straight matches at No. 2 singles and owns a 23-4 record on the year. Freshman Alyssa Rudin is 20-2 at No. 6 singles and has won eight in-a-row … UChicago has a .765 winning percentage in singles and a .711 winning percentage in doubles this season.

Augustana College Vikings

  • Notes: Augustana reached the postseason by winning the CCIW Tournament by a 5-4 margin over Wheaton College. The last time the Vikings reached the NCAA Tournament in 2015, they won the first-round match 5-0 over Edgewood College before falling to UChicago 5-0 in the second round … Augustana previously played three teams from this regional earlier this year. At the Midwest Invite in April, the Vikings lost to UChicago 8-1 and Gustavus Adolphus 7-2. On April 1, they defeated Coe 7-2 … Senior Lauren Goggin leads the team in victories with a 33-6 mark at No. 1 singles. At No. 3 singles, sophomore Caitlyn Schaffer is 32-6. Senior Dana Goggin and Schaffer are 24-6 as a doubles tandem at the top of the lineup.

Coe College Kohawks

  • Season record: 18-9 overall / 7-1 Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC)

  • Notes: The Kohawks are making their sixth-straight appearance in the NCAA Championship field. In the IIAC final, Coe avenged an earlier season loss by defeating Luther College 5-4 … Sophomore Lauren French is tied for second in school history with 55 total wins this season (28-5 in singles, 27-7 in doubles). Junior Haley Resnick now ranks seventh in school history with 131 career total wins. Resnick is 22-11 in singles and 29-6 in doubles this season … In last year's NCAA tournament, Coe won 5-1 over Grinnell College before absorbing a 5-0 second-round loss to Sewanee … The Kohawks won a 5-2 record against Augustana since 2011, while the Vikings have won the last two meetings 9-0 and 2-7.  

Franciscan University Lady Barons

  • Season record: 14-6 overall / 8-0 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC)
  • NCAA appearances: 2
  • Last NCAA appearance: Reached First Round (2015)
  • Notes: Franciscan won the AMCC Championship match against second-seeded Penn State Behrend 5-2 to earn a berth in the NCAA tournament for the second time ever … The Lady Barons set a new program record with 14 wins this season … Seven Lady Barons own winning records in singles, led by sophomore Maria Binette and senior Erin Coyne at 12-5. In doubles, the tandem of sophomore Taranee Karimpour/junior Maggie Vander Woude tandem is undefeated at 12-0. The freshman duo of Madelyn Conrad and Grace Hammel has also had a productive season at 13-7 … Franciscan started the season on a five-match win streak that featured three shutouts. The Lady Barons went undefeated in conference play.

#38 Gustavus Adolphus College Gusties

  • Season record: 19-7 overall / 9-1 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC)
  • NCAA appearances: 25
  • Last NCAA appearance: Reached Second Round (2016)
  • Notes: Gustavus Adolphus captured their seventh MIAC playoff title since 2007 by defeating Carleton College 5-2. The win gave the Gusties an automatic bid into the NCAA national bracket for the 25th time in program history … UChicago last faced Gustavus Adolphus College in 2015 during the second round of the NCAA tournament. UChicago fell behind 2-1 after doubles, but once singles came around, the Maroons came back firing to ultimately win 5-2 … The Gusties won 11-straight matches to start the season and are currently riding a six-match win streak. Five of their losses this year came against nationally-ranked opponents … Junior Katie Aney and sophomore Briana Hartmann are tied for the team lead in singles victories with 22 each. All three main doubles pairings have 19 or more wins, led by junior Ally Baker and senior Michaela Schultz with a 22-5 mark.


#34 Kenyon College Ladies

  • Season record: 12-9 overall / 3-0 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC)
  • NCAA appearances: 19
  • Last NCAA appearance: Reached Second Round (2008)
  • Notes: Kenyon edged out DePauw University 5-4 in the NCAC Tournament Championship to clinch the program's first tourney title since 2001. The Ladies have won six-matches in-a-row … The Ladies have played six matches against nationally-ranked opponents this season … UChicago and Kenyon last faced off in the 2015 Midwest Invite where the Maroons came away with a 5-2 win … Since 1987, Kenyon has won three NCAA team titles (1993, 1995, 1997) and finished runner-up four times … The Ladies have six players who possess a double-digit win record in singles. Sophomore Maggie Sweeney leads the team in wins at 23-7, while sophomore Annie Reiner is 17-9. The doubles team of junior Diana Aboubakare and senior Jenna Murray are 19-5 in their matches.


St. Norbert College Green Knights

  • Season record: 21-13 overall / 8-1 Midwest Conference (MWC)
  • NCAA appearances: 3
  • Last NCAA appearance: Reached First Round (2015)
  • Notes: St. Norbert topped Grinnell College 5-3 in the Midwest Conference Tournament final and clinched its third NCAA Division III Tournament appearance. The squad previously qualified in 2010 and 2015 … The Green Knights have four players with more than 20 singles wins. Freshman Meg Witt owns a team-leading 28-12 record while seniors Katherine Ake and Elizabeth Manlick boast records of 26-11 and 22-17 overall, respectively. Senior Anna Gosz and senior Ashley Randazzo have experienced the most doubles success with a 23-13 record … St. Norbert has played four teams this season who qualified for NCAAs. The Green Knights went 2-2 in those matches with losses to University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (9-0) and Coe (7-2) to go with wins over Concordia University Wisconsin (6-3) and SUNY-Geneseo (5-4).
