Maroons pick up track and field All-Academic accolades from USTFCCCA
CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago men's and women's track and field squads were both named to the 2013 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Track & Field teams on Tuesday. Graduated seniors Isaac Dalke, Julia Sizek and Sarah Peluse were also recognized with 2013 USTFCCCA All-Academic honors as individuals.
A total of 80 men's teams and 148 women's teams earned All-Academic team status with a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or higher. The UChicago women recorded a 3.45 GPA while the men attained a 3.40 GPA.
On the men's side, 232 student-athletes from 92 institutions earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. Dalke, a Classical Studies major, was amongst them with a 3.85 GPA.
On the women's side, 363 student-athletes from 123 institutions were selected to the USTFCCCA All-Academic list. Sizek compiled a 3.86 GPA in her Anthropology and International Studies majors. Peluse recorded a 3.88 GPA as a mathematics major.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards: a student-athlete must have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
